Journalism

By the age of 8, I would use my bedroom window as a television screen and pretend to be an anchor by telling news stories, or what I thought were considered news stories! I've always had a love for television and having stories be told through motion. I feel as if that's where this love began.

By the time I enrolled in college, I wanted to develop a path that would assist me in that area. By the help of multiple professors at Murray State University in numerous departments, ranging from Television Production, Journalism, and Agriculture Communications, I have developed skills and techniques to grow in the industry.

Internship - Farm Bureau Insurance

Aside from the assistance of classes in both Journalism and Television Production, the fine folks in the Corporate Communications Department with Tennessee Farm Bureau Insurance played a large role in allowing my dreams to take flight. For the past two summers, they have welcomed me with open arms in their office assisting with graphic designs projects, social media efforts, and film productions.

The state of Tennessee has been turning to Farm Bureau Insurance for nearl 70 years. This past summer, our department set out across the state to learn why. Every Farm Bureau agent has a story - What do they care about with their clients? What are the relationships like in a small, rural town? You don't have to be a farmer to have Farm Bureau Insurance? Tell me more!

This film production is titled, "Coffee Talk of Tennessee." Throughout each month of the year, one agent from each sales region will be featured on all FBITN social media platforms.

In this area of study, as well as in this internship, some interviews stick close to your heart. The interview below being one of them. Mr. Pulley has been my family's agent for as long as I can begin to remember. Growing up on a first generation family farm, I take note of the mornings after a terrible storm would rip through my small town - destroying infrastructures, crops, maybe even taking the lives of livestock. What I remember the most about recovering from those drastic events is noticing a farm truck with a red, Farm Bureau Insurance license plate turn into my family's farm. Not only do Farm Bureau agents come to their clients assistance in hard times such as those, they come as a friend.

That's why we set out to determine why Tennessee has turned to Farm Bureau Insurance for nearly 70 years.
